Sutton Valence Choral Society is seeking to appoint a new accompanist from April 2025, to take over from our current accompanist who will be retiring after more than 15 years with the choir.

The choir is one of the foremost amateur choirs in Southeast Kent described by the Church Times as the leading large vocal ensemble in the area. We are looking for a skilled and motivated accompanist, ideally with experience in working with large mixed choirs. 

We are a non-auditioned choir of approximately 65 singers including a smaller auditioned chamber choir.

We rehearse on Monday evenings during school term time at Sutton Valence School. Our accompanist is expected to play at all weekly rehearsals (usually about 30 per year) and at the rehearsal on the day of each concert, as well as at the concert itself, depending on the work performed.

We perform a minimum of two major concerts per year with a professional orchestra and soloists.

It is our practice to pay our accompanist on a self employed basis at competitive rates. Remuneration is reviewed annually in line with RPI and average earnings.
