The Paulinus Singers are a chamber choir based in Ripon, but attracting singers from a wide area. Our repertoire includes sacred and secular works drawn from six centuries of the European choral tradition. Our conductor, Sam Gardner, is stepping down after leading us for 15 years, so we seek his successor to join us in April 2024. We present three concerts a year, sometimes accompanied, sometimes a capella. We do not rehearse every week: each Saturday concert is prepared by rehearsing on the preceding five Tuesdays. Our conductor is responsible for the ultimate selection of programmes, for preparing the singers and presenting the concert. A fee is paid for the work involved in each concert.
The closing date for applications is 6 January 2024. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to lead a rehearsal session with the full choir in late January.
If you are interested, please write a short email about yourself to singing@stpaulinus.org.uk. You will then receive more information about the choir, and details of the simple application process.
