A new Musical Director is required for Coats Choral ( formerly Thomas Coats Memorial Choral Society) for the season starting January 2025. We are a long established choral society based in Paisley and in good commuting distance from Glasgow. Our current membership is around 55. The choir rehearses on a Tuesday evening from January to March with a small number of Friday rehearsals near to the concert. We perform 1 concert a year in March and perform from the major choral repertoire with an orchestra.

Remuneration is by an annual fee to be agreed with the successful candidate, as will terms of contract. The following skills are important for the job:

• Experience of conducting a choir and orchestra is essential
• The ability to motivate an adult choir to achieve a high performance standard
• Lead rehearsals with a sense of humour and respect for individuals
• Good organisational skills
• Work collaboratively with the choir committee and office bearers
• Design concert programmes in conjunction with the committee with broad appeal to both choir and audience
