NCS is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2024. Over those years, there have been three inspirational Musical Directors who have developed the choir in their own way, making NCS a significant and respected part of the cultural scene in the North East.
Mark Anyan, Musical Director of NCS since 2007, is to step down from the role at the end of February 2025. The choir is now inviting submissions from experienced choral directors interested in taking over the role.
NCS is a well respected mixed voice adult choir of around 60 members. The choir usually performs three concerts a year with a range of choral works from all eras at a variety of venues.
Since 2005, the choir has given four acclaimed concerts at Sage Gateshead (now The Glasshouse), often in collaboration with other prestigious choirs and celebrity professional soloists.
