Vivace Chorus is a flourishing, ambitious auditioned choir of 130 members (SATB) and based in Guildford, Surrey.
Jeremy Backhouse, Musical Director of Vivace for 30 happy and successful years, is retiring in July 2025. The choir is now inviting submissions from experienced choral directors interested in taking over the role.
We perform a wide range of musical repertoire, from Mahler to musicals, Britten to Berlioz. We have promoted concerts at major London venues and plan to return to the Royal Albert Hall in July. We have three main concerts each season and also a Christmas concert, a summer concert and a Come and Sing event. We have enjoyed tours abroad and last summer we visited Liverpool for a weekend of music making.
Our rehearsals take place in central Guildford on Monday evenings, five minutes' walk from the station, which has a good service to London, Waterloo.
