Sutton Valence Choral Society is looking to appoint a new Music Director to take over from our current Director who will be retiring in November 2025 after more than 20 years with the choir. The choir is one of the foremost amateur choirs in southeast Kent, described by the Church Times as the leading vocal ensemble in the area.
We are looking for a musically talented, highly skilled, and inspirational conductor who will help us to pursue our vision - which is simply to share the pleasure of music making by providing members with the opportunity to learn and perform choral music to a high standard. This very friendly choir was formed in 1990 and has over 60 singers. Membership is not dependent on audition but a smaller chamber choir within the larger group is auditioned.
We rehearse on Monday evenings at Sutton Valence School during term time. Our repertoire is ambitious and challenging and we give of our best but, above all, enjoy what we do. We perform two major concerts a year usually in November and March, with two smaller concerts in July and December. We also undertake workshops, social events and charitable functions including a Walk and Sing when we walk from church to church, singing at each. Each year we choose a local charity and raise money for it throughout the year. This year we are supporting the Kent and Medway Young Musicians Trust.
If you would like to explore this opportunity we should be glad to hear from you. You will find more details of the role and application process on our website
