Musical Director

Yorkshire

Organisation: Carfield Community Choir

Carfield Community Choir (est. 2007) is an all-welcome no audition a capella choir based in Heeley/Meersbrook in Sheffield and meets for around an hour and a quarter at 7pm on Monday nights.

With our long serving Musical Director heading into retirement in the next few months, we are now looking to appoint someone new. Our focus is about a welcoming and inclusive culture that includes all levels of ability, and creates a sense of community and belonging. Whilst we do perform as a choir and participate in local community events, we see the real focus is about singing together on a Monday night, with no obligation for members to perform.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Rehearsal Management

Plan and lead regular rehearsals ensuring a productive, engaging and enjoyable environment for choir members.

2. Musical Literacy

Choose and welcome ideas for (mainly 4-part) repertoire that suits the choir's approach and aligns with our ethos. Use your musical literacy to guide the choir through their parts and resolve any challenges.

3. Vocal Coaching

Provide guidance in vocal technique, harmony, dynamics and expression to help members enhance their singing skills.

4. Communication

Great verbal and written communications to ensure members are well informed and updated on any choir matters.

5. Choir-Building

Bring enthusiasm and foster a supportive and inclusive culture, encouraging participation, improvement and celebration of their choir.
