The Lindow Singers are looking for a music director from September 2025.
We are a non-audition SATB choir of about 40 members. We rehearse on Monday evenings during school term times at The Wilmslow Academy, SK9 2LX, and present 3-4 concerts a year on Saturdays or Sundays to audiences of around 100. Our repertoire is primarily classical but with lighter works such as G&S, opera choruses or folk songs in the summer concert.
Rehearsals are conducted with an excellent paid accompanist and for the performances we have piano, organ or other instrumental accompaniment to suit the work.
The music director is responsible, in consultation with the Trustees, for selecting appropriate music for each performance, coaching the choir at rehearsals and for conducting the public performances.
Payment is per rehearsal with an additional fee for each performance. Rates of pay are negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
Short-listed candidates will be invited to interview and may be asked to attend a choir practice to meet the choir and conduct part of the rehearsal.
