Music Director: Thameside Harmony Chorus
Thameside Harmony Chorus is looking for a new Music Director to lead us into our 40th anniversary celebrations in 2026!
We are an all-female barbershop group of 14 singers, seeking an enthusiastic and musically confident leader who enjoys working with female voices. Piano skills are helpful but not essential — most of our singers learn by ear. Some knowledge of barbershop singing, or a willingness to learn the style, is desirable.
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at Hampton Methodist Church, 78 Percy Road, Hampton TW12 2JT, and perform at concerts and community events throughout the local area.
As members of LABBS (the Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers), our repertoire spans everything from barbershop classics to pop favourites — from Java Jive and Alexander’s Ragtime Band to Scarborough Fair, Skyfall, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Somewhere from West Side Story. We regularly perform at the Sunbury Walled Garden Summer Concerts, organise our own events, take part in local choral competitions and recently collaborated with the Union Chapel Community Choir in Islington.
We are seeking a Music Director who can help us:
- Continue improving our ensemble singing and performance skills
- Polish and expand our repertoire with humour, creativity, and sensitivity
- Support initiatives to grow our membership and explore new performance opportunities
If this sounds like you, please send your CV and a short cover letter to admin@thamesideharmony.org.uk by 12 December 2025. For further information, you can also email us or call 07939 443379. You are warmly invited to visit a rehearsal to get to know us this month (November) before progressing to a try out and interview in January.
The role begins as soon as possible after this stage has been completed, hopefully by February 2026.
We look forward to hearing from you!
