Musical Director for Community Choir: Port Isaac Chorale
Start date: August/September 2026
This is an exciting opportunity for a new Musical Director to lead a friendly, inclusive and well-established community choir. The new MD will:
- Lead a well-balanced SATB choir with more than fifty singers from across North Cornwall
- Renew and develop the choir’s wide-ranging repertoire – from madrigals to musicals

Port Isaac Chorale is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Musical Director following the retirement of our founding MD, who established the choir over thirty years ago.
The role includes leading weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals at St Endellion Village Hall, conducting concerts, recommending repertoire and programmes and working collaboratively with our accompanist and committee.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience leading choirs or choral groups (including the ability to develop vocal technique)
- Is an inspiring communicator with a love of music across genres
- Takes an inclusive, encouraging approach
- Can balance musical ambition with a sense of enjoyment and community spirit, working collaboratively with friends of the choir to celebrate the rich local musical heritage
The successful candidate will be employed on a self-employed basis.
