Bromley Barbershop Harmony Club (aka The Kentones) is a friendly, male chorus of 35 members who have recently celebrated 50 joyous years of singing barbershop harmonies. We are a registered charity, with the aim of encouraging singing and performing four part close harmony in the barbershop style.

We enjoy entertaining and educating our audiences at sing out events, and we also enjoy competing  at the annual British Association of Barbershop Singers convention.

The Club has a long tradition of friendship with many social activities outside of singing, and many of our members have been with us 20 to 50 years which is testament to the camaraderie of the Club.

Rehearsal is every Thursday evening in the church hall at St Paul’s Church, Crofton Road, Orpington, BR6 8JE.

We are looking for someone:

• With the ability and personal qualities to help us become the best chorus we can be.
• Able to lead the chorus in developing and improving vocal skills and techniques.
• Who can work with our music committee in selecting song repertoire.
• To develop a yearly plan for the Club, and plan and implement weekly rehearsals.
• Attend sing-outs in the local area.

Experience in leading a barbershop chorus is not essential, as while we want to maintain our barbershop roots, we would also like to take this opportunity to explore including more different styles and more contemporary music into our repertoire.

This is a paid position with remuneration to be agreed depending on experience.

If you wish to apply or discuss the post informally, please email the chorus chairman, Martin Gayton, at chairman@thekentones.co.uk
