Looking after your voice - a session for young singers

Thursday 10th October 2024

10th October, 5 - 6.30pm, Zoom

Led by Olivia Sparkhall

For all young singers aged 11 -18

Would you like to understand more about looking after your voice? In this session, designed for young singers aged 11 - 18, we'll look at all the things that affect your voice, and how you can take care of your instrument. From anxiety and diet, to sore throats and voice change - we'll explain what's going on as your voice develops. We'll also look at bad habits and risky behaviour, so you can find out the facts about smoking, drinking alcohol, and whether it's really worth keeping hydrated and having an early night before a performance. No question is off-limits - you can ask anything you like about your voice and we'll give you an honest, factual answer, including where you can go to find out more.

Olivia is an award-winning composer, conductor, teacher, and author. Her professional background is in music education where she works as a vocal coach, workshop leader, lecturer, and animateur.
