Join us for a Sunday afternoon of singing in the ancient North Wales Cathedral of St Asaph to mark the centenary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II with Paul Mealor, a composer who has written many times for royalty, including for the Coronation service in 2023.
Enjoy singing some old favourites as well as discovering some new works, all with a Royal connection, and hearing about Paul’s experience as a Royal composer. There will be the chance to hear the cathedral choir sing evensong at 3.30pm and to attend the choir’s concert at 7pm (bookable separately).
About the music
Paul has chosen some the most familiar and famous royal music for the afternoon, great for a good sing! But he will also introduce you to some of the music he has composed for royal occasions, alongside other music which is less well-known. All music will be provided on the day and will include:

- O Taste and See (Ralph Vaughan Williams)
- A Welsh Prayer (Paul Mealor)
- We Wait for Thy Loving Kindness (William McKie)
- The Lord Bless You and Keep You (Paul Mealor)

About the venue
St Asaph Cathedral is situated in North Wales, not far from Rhyl, and about forty minutes’ drive from Chester. Dating from the thirteenth century, it is the venue for concerts and events throughout the year including the renowned North Wales International Music Festival.
