Choral Conducting: An Initial Guide

If you’re new to choral conducting, or have conducted for a while and want to back up your experience with training, why not join our tutors Lucy and Mark for this specially designed one-day course?

This supportive and informal fully interactive day will include individual podium time for all participants and will cover key topics such as:

  • Beat patterns in a variety of meters
  • How to deliver useful, effective and fun vocal warm ups
  • How to teach and lead songs and rounds efficiently
  • The conductor as a verbal and visual communicator

Event fee: £125 non-members, £90 abcd members

Getting to the venue: The Dickens Room, The Birmingham and Midlands Institute, 9 Margaret Street, Birmingham, B3 3BS. The Birmingham and Midlands Institute is located in central Birmingham. It is a short walk (approximately ten minutes) from Birmingham New Street and Snow Hall Station. There are various pay and display car parks a short distance from the venue – further details can be found here.
