Information requested on who commissions new music

Who commissions new music and why? How is the economic climate affecting commissions? Are commissioners valued as much as they should be?

The British Academy of Songwriters and Composers (BASCA) is running a survey for commissioners of new music and would like organisations and individuals who commission music to complete the online survey. This survey is for all commissioners of new music for the concert hall or stage, whether classical, jazz or electronic.

Together with the commission fees survey that BASCA conducted in 2011, the results of the survey will provide a picture about the health of new music commissioning in the UK.
