Huge congratulations to our President John Rutter, who received his knighthood from the King this week, having been awarded his knighthood in His Majesty The King's 2024 Birthday Honours for services to music.
Speaking after the ceremony, John said he was "surprised and delighted" to have been awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours List. He reflected that one of the things that made the ceremony special for him was the fact that the King is a music lover, somebody to whom music is very important and who appreciates its value and its place in our national life.
John is a founder member of abcd: without his foresight we may not exist. He continues to support us in so many ways, along with choirs and choral music throughout the country and internationally, and we're so pleased and proud that he has been given this well-deserved honour.
