A long-retired MMA Director of Music and Conductor wishes to donate virtually his entire Music Library collected over many years to a bona fide currently active Director of Music (Conductor) or Music Department of School or College which has space to accommodate it. A condition would be that it should remain available as a music resource for a department and its students and not split up or sold off for profit.
A suitable applicant could, by appointment, inspect the material (East Midlands) and if agreed, would collect it in a large van perhaps at own expense. The gift would include at least half a dozen 6-shelf bookcases and contents, and about three dozen large plastic boxes/cartons of stored music currently on steel shelving, but not any musical instruments. There is no catalogue but alphabetical order mostly prevails.
The contents comprise over 500 miniature scores, about 20 Full Scores, up to 100 sets of orchestral parts including some oratorios, possibly 200 varied oratorio scores scores (some duplicates and sets), about 50 varied opera/operetta vocal scores, hundreds of part-songs (with some sets and complete B&H specimens in 4 bound folders), carols and carol books (with some sets), Text books, Reference Books, Biographies of Composers, Some Chamber Music Quartets, Trios parts/scores, miscellaneous Instrumental Music, Song Albums, Sheet Music Songs, Church Music, Dictionaries (20-volume Grove excluded for the time being), much piano music (excluding some retained for personal use), much organ music including roll-front music cabinet.
In the first place, application should be made in confidence to Len Fletcher
