Making Music's annual national conference will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September in the beautiful new building of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
Focussing on participation, throughout the first day, 'Joining In - Making Music for Everyone', offers plenty of musical activity to get involved with, interesting display stands to enjoy in the spacious foyer, and an exciting concert in the evening which will include a premiere by Royal Wedding music and Military Wives composer Paul Mealor, also the keynote speaker on Sunday.
The concert, to be recorded by BBC Radio 3, will also feature a new work composed for Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society as part of Making Music's Adopt a Composer scheme, Gareth Wood's Sea Dogs, commissioned by Ty Cerdd's education department, and two of the young concert artists selected from a wider group promoted by Making Music each year. Plus much, much more!
Sunday will include the formal launch of Music Partnership Forum Wales, a new platform for Welsh National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Welsh College and others to explore ways of collaborating with Wales based music groups; a meeting of the concert promoters group; and a panel discussion on 'Linking Groups and Musicians', with a host of experts to lead the debate.
