Support the Bacc for the Future campaign to save the future of creativity in schools
The ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians) is heading a campaign to ensure that music and other creative subjects are included in the proposed new English Baccalaureate.
The Government is proposing the introduction of this new flagship qualification to replace GSCEs. Students will only receive an EBacc if they pass exams across five core subject areas - maths, English, languages (ancient and modern), humanities (history or geography) and science.
Worryingly, music and other creative subjects are presently completely omitted from this list, threatening to seriously devalue their place in the curriculum.
The petition has already gathered over 21,000 signatures. To find out more and sign the petition, click here.
