Two abcd members have received specially commended prizes for their work with their choirs: Mavis Fletcher (Lancaster Singers) and Jean Stanley-Jones (Cantorion Sirenian Singers). The Lady Hilary Groves Award is presented to a Making Music member nominated by their group for their outstanding contribution to music in the community. As the nominations this year were of exceptional quality, 3 special commendations were awarded in addition to the winner, Andrea Encinas of British Gospel Arts Consortium Ltd.
Chris Hutchings has won Chigwell Choir Young Composers' Competition. Next Morning was premiered on 15th November by Chigwell Choir in their concert 100 Years of Poppies, conducted by Alexander Campkin. Click here for Chris's website.
Corporate Member DCINY's founder and Music Director Jonathan Griffith has been awarded The American Prize in Conducting, in the professional orchestra division. The American Prize is a series of non-profit competitions designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, ensembles and composers in the United States. It looks to recognize the breadth and quality of excellent music making across the country.
Joy Hill has been appointed as the new IFCM (International Federation for Choral Music) representative on the World Youth Choir Artistic Committee.
