Choir of the Year in 2016 is now open and welcoming entries from amateur choirs across the UK. Any vocal group of between 8-100 singers can register and an estimated 7,000 singers are expected to take part in the Audition Days from March to June.
The Auditions are a great experience, bringing together choirs of all ages and music styles, and a fantastic opportunity to pick up new performance and repertoire ideas, work towards a shared goal and sing to a large, supportive audience. We would encourage any choir come along and take part, be they experienced competitors or a new group seeking a challenge. There is no official deadline, but places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis so early applications are encouraged. For further details and to apply online, please click here.
abcd is delighted to be teaming up with Choir of the Year on a new element to the Audition programme: each venue will also be host to a masterclass for up to four choirs, led by an experienced abcd tutor. Created for choirs and musical directors who'd like some support and ideas to 'get to the next level', tutors will be happy to offer help in areas such as conducting & rehearsal technique, vocal production, intonation, diction, presentation and style. The masterclasses are open to choirs of all ages and musical styles.
Further details and an application form will be available in the New Year, but in the meantime dates and venues are as per the Audition schedule, available by clicking here. Groups are welcome to register their interest by emailing info@choiroftheyear.com
