Audition for the National Youth Boys' Choir

The National Youth Boys' Choir is holding auditions for boy trebles (boys with unchanged voices) on the following dates:

Applications open on Monday 14th March. Click here to register.

Why audition?

The National Youth Boys' Choir is a constituent choir of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Like all NYCGB choirs, it offers its members outstanding performance experience in prestigious venues, a huge range of challenging music, inspirational and caring tuition in vocal technique and musicianship, lively social activities, and progression opportunities to senior choirs in the NYCGB family: the National Youth Training Choir, the National Youth Choir, and the National Youth Chamber Choir. This year, the National Youth Boys' Choir will perform at the Royal Albert Hall and as part of NYCGB's Summerfest 2016, and give the world premiere of new music by renowned children's composer Stephen Hatfield.

How to apply

From 14th March, click here to register and apply.

Please note: slots fill up very quickly so make sure to apply promptly to avoid disappointment.

Where are the audition venues?

NYCGB does not publish audition venue information in order to safeguard applicants. We try to ensure that our audition venues are in central locations, easily accessible by public and private transport.

Candidates receive audition venue information as part of their confirmation pack, together with on-the-day contact information.

Audition tests & preparation

Candidates sing two prepared items (one of their own choice and one from a set list) and take sight reading and aural tests. For full information, visit: www.nycgb.org.uk/join-us/apply-for-audition/audition-information

How much does an audition cost, and what is the cost of membership?

NYCGB auditions cost £35.

Successful candidates pay a one-off membership fee of £80, and residential course fees. National Youth Boys' Choir residential courses presently cost £760 but NYCGB subsidises this cost by 40%, meaning that members pay £505.

Is financial support available?

NYCGB's Bursary Scheme provides financial assistance on a means-tested basis against the costs of auditions, membership, residential courses and associated travel. Click here to find out more about financial assistance.

All-voice auditions 2016

NYCGB holds auditions for all voice parts and ages at locations nationwide in the Autumn. Further information about locations and booking will be made available during the Summer.
