Take part in World Choir Day

World Choir Day is an international choral event organised by the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) which has been celebrated since 1990 on 2nd December to extol the values of solidarity, peace and understanding. Millions of singers across the globe have been involved in World Choral Day concerts, festivals, sing-alongs, choral seminars, days of friendship and other events.

This year, to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War I, the series of singing events has been extended from 11 November to 16 December. Choirs from all over the world are invited to register their concerts/events.

In addition, IFCM and Fundación Aequalis invite singers to be a part of the VoxPopuli Virtual Choir, which will perform the winning composition of the 2018 "Alberto Grau" International Choral Composition Competition entitled Nada Te Turbe by Carlos Alberto Cordero.

As a statement of Remembrance, the middle section will be performed by ensembles from the countries that suffered the biggest losses during WWI: Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Russia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Ensembles invited to perform this section will be selected by IFCM and its network. Choirs from these countries who wish to be considered will find more information here.

As a statement of global peace and unity, the first and last sections of this composition will be performed by individual singers from all around the world. Singers interested in participating in this global event will need to submit individual recordings by October 7th, 2018. For more information, click here.

Closing date for applications for the virtual choir is 7 October.
