Accompanist

Yorkshire

Accompanist: Skipton Choral Society

Skipton Choral Society is looking for an accompanist due to relocation.
Our well-established choir of around 60 mixed voices usually performs three concerts each year, covering a range of classical and more contemporary works.

We are non-auditioning choir but strive for high standards and have performed many well-known choral works as well as some more unusual pieces. We are led by a highly competent and experienced MD, Robert Webb, a former choral scholar under Peter Philips (Tallis Scholars). Further details about the choir and examples of some of our past and future performances can be found on our website:
https://skiptonchoralsociety.com/

We rehearse (with piano) in the truly excellent acoustic of Christ Church in the lovely North Yorkshire market town of Skipton on Monday evenings from 7- 9pm (during school term times). We usually perform there too, but not always; for example, we are scheduled to perform at Bolton Abbey Priory Church in May 2024 and Skipton Town Hall and Selby Abbey in December 2024.

You should be an enthusiastic and skilled pianist who is a sensitive accompanist with relevant experience of working with amateur choirs. You should have good sight-reading and score-reading skills, and be willing to practice music in advance of rehearsals. A willingness to lead occasional sectional rehearsals from the keyboard would be an advantage, but is not essential. It is not necessary that candidates also be organists.
