Barnsley Singers are looking to recruit an Assistant Musical Director to add to our Musical Director team. The choir rehearses on Tuesday nights 19:00 - 20:45 at Barnsley Sixth Form College in the centre of Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

Barnsley Singers is an un-auditioned adult community choir of 120 members and strives to achieve the best possible experience for its members, both musically and socially. The choir mainly performs popular music but branches out into other genres to stretch and develop members. 

In this role, the applicant would be expected to run warm-ups, sectionals and occasionally take full rehearsals and accompany if needed. They would work and learn alongside Musical Director, Luke Mather and Accompanist, Rob Cooper to achieve high musical quality within the choir. Barnsley has a blossoming choral scene and this role could be the perfect way to kick-start someone's choral conducting career.

The role can be flexible to the skills of the applicant. At the very least, the ideal applicant should be an excellent musician with good choral leadership and piano skills. They should also be passionate about developing as a choral leader.

Selected applicants would then be asked to attend and lead part of a rehearsal so they can get a feel for what we do in Barnsley. Our chosen successful applicant would then ideally begin working with our team as soon as possible.

Fees: £70 per rehearsal, with potential for subsidising of travel costs on agreement. There are additional fees for concerts and events through the year. This is a freelance role, invoicing for work each month.
