Location: Central East Grinstead

Rehearsal Schedule: Thursdays during term time, 16:00-18:00

Remuneration: £100 per hour for weekly rehearsals. Additional fee for performance preparation and leading of performances.

Overview:

The East Grinstead Children's Choir is seeking a passionate and experienced Music Director to lead our newly established choir. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in choral conducting, a love for working with children, and the ability to inspire and nurture young singers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and lead weekly rehearsals every Thursday during term time from 16:00 to 18:00.
• Develop and implement a curriculum that fosters musical growth and vocal development.
• Select appropriate and diverse repertoire that engages and challenges the choir.
• Prepare the choir for performances, ensuring a high standard of musical excellence.
• Conduct the choir during performances, including concerts, community events, and competitions.
• Provide individual and group vocal coaching as needed.
• Collaborate with the choir's administrative team to schedule performances and manage logistical details.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive rehearsal environment that encourages participation and enjoyment.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in choral conducting, particularly with children's choirs.
• Strong knowledge of vocal techniques and choral repertoire.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate young singers.
• Flexibility and creativity in rehearsal planning and execution.
• Enhanced disclosure and barring checks (DBS) - covered by the choir.
