About Us

Achord is a fun and inclusive amateur choir based in Pimlico, London. We have been running for over 10 years, with a consistent membership of 20 members who are all passionate about music.

We currently rehearse once a week and perform two concerts a year. We love to keep our repertoire varied and are always happy to explore new themes.

We're seeking a new Director to join us as our founder is relocating outside of London. The ideal person is passionate about making music and is excited to take Achord into a new phase.

Position Summary

You will play a crucial role in shaping our choir's musical direction and ensuring its success. You will lead weekly rehearsals, play the piano, and conduct our concerts with enthusiasm and expertise. We are looking for an experienced director who can inspire our choir members, helping them achieve their musical potential while fostering a sense of community and fun.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct Weekly Rehearsals:

  • ● Lead and conduct engaging and productive weekly rehearsals.

  • ● Select appropriate repertoire and arrangements to challenge and inspire choir members.

  • ● Provide vocal and musical direction to choir members to improve their performance.

    Musical Accompaniment:

  • ● Play the piano proficiently during rehearsals and performances, providing musical support and guidance to the choir.

  • ● Arrange and adapt musical pieces as needed to suit the choir's style and abilities.

    Concert Direction:

  • ● Direct choir performances during concerts, ensuring a polished show.

  • ● Work closely with groups and soloists as required.

Artistic Vision:

  • ● Develop and implement a vision for the choir's performances.

  • ● Collaborate with choir members to explore new and innovative musical ideas.

    Inclusivity and engagement:

  • ● Foster a positive and inclusive environment within the choir, where members of all skill levels feel welcome and encouraged.
