Musical Director: Kew Gardens Choir
We are looking for a new Musical Director to work with us to further develop our existing vibrant, inclusive and community-based-workplace Choir here at Kew Gardens. We currently have around 25-30 members (employees and volunteers) who love singing, and now have an exciting opportunity to relaunch the choir in the autumn with our new leader and the aim of attracting many new members. Our choir’s next performance will be at the annual Kew Carol Service due to take place on Monday 15th December 2025. We are therefore seeking an individual who can lead us in a fun way through varied repertoire, whilst recognising the varying levels of previous experience and ability.
Our choir has performed at a variety of Kew events over the years including staff parties, Christmas at Kew and even at the grand reopening of the Temperate House. The group has also featured in the Christmas Choirs series at the Victoria & Albert Museum and joint concerts with the West London Chamber Choir. Kew Gardens provides a fabulous environment to sing in, and we have high ambitions for the choir to be included in more activities and events both within the Gardens and beyond. Are you the person who can make this happen?
We currently meet for a 1-hour weekly rehearsal on Tuesdays at 4.30pm, a schedule we hope to continue (although other days/times may be possible). The Musical Director’s fee will be commensurate with experience and in line with professional rates.
As an initial form of contact, please email David Iggulden at d.iggulden@kew.org by 1st August 2025.
Interviews and Auditions are planned for the weeks commencing 1st and 8th September 2025.
