Accompanist Required: Clackmannanshire Choral Society
Following a recent retirement, Clackmannanshire Choral Society (“ClacksChoral” https://clackschoral.godaddysites.com/) seeks an accompanist/repetiteur to start in September.
We are currently an amateur SATB chamber choir of 35 members. We perform in public twice a year, rehearsing from early January through to the Spring Concert in April and from early September through the autumn for the Christmas Concert in early December. We do not meet over the festive season or through the summer (apart from occasional Committee meetings, which do not involve the accompanist).
During each of the two sessions, we rehearse on Monday nights from 7 pm to just after 9 pm, with a 10-minute break, in Tillicoultry Church Hall (behind the church), 17 Dollar Road, FK13 6PD. Our two scheduled performances are 7:30-9:30 on a Saturday night, one in mid-to-late April and one in early December, in the Cochrane Hall on West Stirling Street, Alva, FK12 5LJ. We hold a final rehearsal in the Cochrane Hall on the day of each of the concerts from 10:30 am to 1 pm (or so). The appointed Accompanist will commit to attending all the rehearsals and the two performances. Our first rehearsal for the Christmas programme is on 8th September and the final rehearsal and Christmas Concert are scheduled for 6th December 2025.
The repertoire of the choir is quite eclectic and extends over seven centuries (from the 15th to the 21st) and all genres from renaissance, through baroque, classical and romantic to folk, traditional, jazz, and pop. Our programmes have featured sacred and secular; opera, musicals and film music; old favourites as well as music from living composers. Above all, we are a friendly choir. We gather for the joy of making music together to the highest standards we can, under the guidance of our Music Director, Kit Mitchell. The performance is the destination, and it is of great importance to us, but we gather for the journey together.
The post of Accompanist attracts an annual honorarium, paid in two instalments near the start of the sessions.
