We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled conductor to lead and inspire The Fitzhardinge Consort, one of the foremost choirs in the South West.

About the role
The Director of Music will be responsible for directing rehearsals and performances, developing the choir’s musical quality, and fostering a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment for singers of varying abilities.

The Fitzhardinge Consort has developed hugely under the direction of Peter Wagstaff and we are looking for a new Director of Music who will continue this development and lead us as we grow our audiences, outreach and impact.

The role provides the opportunity to plan our own concerts and also to work with local venues and performers with whom we have established strong working relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and lead regular rehearsals efficiently and creatively
  
• Select and prepare appropriate repertoire
  
• Conduct the choir in concerts, services, and special events
  
• Work collaboratively with choir members, accompanists, and committee/management
  
• Encourage attendance, commitment, and musical growth within the choir 

About you

• Proven experience conducting choirs and orchestras
  
• Strong musical knowledge and conducting technique
  
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
  
• Ability to motivate and engage singers
  
• Relevant musical qualifications are desirable but not essential
