Choir Leader / Conductor: Good Day Choir
Location: Abergavenny (future locations available)
Day/Time: Flexible for the right candidate.
About the Role
Good Day Choir is expanding! Following our successful launches in Penarth and Newport, we are seeking an inspiring, charismatic, and musically talented leader to head up our new Abergavenny branch. This is a self-employed position perfect for a freelancer looking to fill a prime daytime slot.
Our choir is specifically designed for retirees and those free during the day. We don't do auditions; our mission is to provide a fun, social environment where the "tea and coffee break" is just as important as the singing.
The Reward: A Tiered Growth Pay Structure
We believe in rewarding our leaders as the community grows. Your pay is directly linked to the success of your branch:
Starting Rate: £80 per session.
Milestone 1: Increases to £100 per session once the branch reaches 50 active members.
Continued Growth: An additional £10 per session for every 10 members recruited beyond the initial 50 (e.g., 70 members = £120 per session).
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Musical Leadership: Lead a 90-minute session every Friday with high energy and warmth.
Tech-Ready: You must own and be proficient with an iPad or Tablet to manage digital sheet music and session resources during rehearsals.
The 'Social Heart': Facilitate the mid-session break to ensure members feel connected and welcomed.
Self-Employed Status: You will be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance as a freelance contractor.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a "room-filler" with a personality that can engage 50–100 people.
Strong piano skills are preferred, though not essential if you are an exceptional vocal leader.
You are reliable, organized, and passionate about the wellbeing of older adults.
Why Join Us?
We handle all the heavy lifting: the marketing campaigns, venue bookings, sheet music licensing, printing and automated monthly membership billing. You simply show up, bring the energy, and lead the music.
How to Apply
Please send your CV and a short video or link of you in action to info@gooddaychoir.co.uk
