The Alvington Singers are a chamber choir based in Kingsbridge, Devon.  Formed in 1985, we have been performing around the local area and beyond ever since. Our repertoire covers a wide range of sacred and secular music. The choir has between 30 and 40 members.

Rehearsals take place weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Methodist Church Hall in Kingsbridge. We perform around four concerts each year.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Musical Director; someone with extensive choral experience, with a passion for, and knowledge of, a wide range of musical styles and the ability to inspire and encourage choir members.

The Musical Director’s responsibilities include:

• Planning and leading weekly rehearsals, including part sessions where required.
• Researching and proposing a musical programme for the choir.
• Working with the AS Committee to deliver a series of concerts throughout the year.
• Attending AS Committee meetings - AGM plus one or two other meetings, as required.

The position of Musical Director attracts an honorarium and expenses which are negotiable.

Ideally, we are looking to recruit a new MD from late-May/early-June 2026 onwards, and certainly by September 2026. The timescale is, however, flexible and to be discussed.
