Music Director: Cotswold Male Voice Choir
Due to relocation of our Music Director, the Cotswold Male Voice Choir require a replacement Music Director from July 2026.
We are a long-established TTBB choir of enviable reputation, of over 50 members, based in Cheltenham with a wide catchment area for our choristers.
We enjoy singing in support of charities, fund-raising and corporate events, plus weddings and family celebrations, averaging up to one concert a month, and often an annual tour being arranged, and joint choir concerts, plus soloists.
We are a friendly and social group, and enjoy ‘after-glows’ following performances.
We have a developing repertoire from traditional to more contemporary eclectic arrangements.
We have our on-line member’s area for whole choir and part recordings for home rehearsal to assist our weekly rehearsals together.
Duties to include:
- To conduct and develop the choir of mixed abilities at weekly rehearsals, and concerts as arranged, to optimise our standards, together with accompanist ;
- to be responsible for preparation and choice of rehearsal schedules leading towards concert programmes, with broad appeal to the choir and the audiences ;
- to work collaboratively with the Committee within the Rules and Constitution, for our charitable status.
Experience to include:
- conducting a male voice choir, with enthusiasm, humour and respect ;
- excellent musicianship and vocal skills ;
- knowledge of traditional and modern MVC repertoire ;
- good organisational and communication skills to motivate our members ;
- and work collaboratively with our accompanist [on the Steinway piano, at our rehearsal base at Helen Porter Music Hall, Dean Close School, Cheltenham, GL51 6EP every Wednesday evening from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm].
Remuneration fees to be commensurate with experience and the market rate, for rehearsals and concerts.

Selection will be by interview, and after short-listing, candidates will be leading a short rehearsal audition of the choir - comprising preparation of choice from our existing repertoire, and direction of a new piece for the choir of your choice.
