Choir Director: Peabody Hammersmith Tenants and Residents Association
We are seeking a choir director to lead a time-limited programme of rehearsals and performances for a beginner-friendly community choir in Hammersmith (2 min walk from the station). This choir won a grant to support its establishment - and will be focused on being a fun, welcoming environment rather than on high quality output.
Key requirements:
* Experience working with singers of mixed ability, including those who are unable to read music.
* Delivery of a structured season of rehearsals and concerts for a beginners’ choir.
Proposed schedule:
- Weekly 1.5 hour rehearsals beginning in May.
- A summer concert in August as part of our 100th birthday celebration.
- A further concert in Early December for our senior Christmas party, with the possibility of additional performances at local events around Hammersmith.
Artistic direction:
- The choir director will have flexibility to choose the repertoire within themes.
- Music for the summer concert should be inclusive and non-religious.
- We have a maximum budget of £300 to purchase music.
Contract and fees:
- The contract will formally conclude after the Christmas period.
- The director would be a contractor on a self-employed basis.
- We anticipate a total of 22 rehearsals and 2-3 performances.
- We would rehearse from mid-May to August then October - 1st week of December.
- Flexible on rehearsal day between Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Rehearsal rate: £30 per hour.
- Performance rate: £50 per hour.
