Otley and Ilkley Choral Societies are looking to each appoint a conducting scholar to assist with weekly rehearsals and concerts in the season starting September 2026. 

We are two ambitious and friendly choirs who rehearse separately and perform together as around 120 voices under the same MD.  Ilkley rehearsals are on a Monday evening and Otley on a Tuesday evening.  This scholarship is aimed at budding professionals aged 18-35 looking to work in choral music.  It would be an advantage to sing and join in our repertoire.  We are happy to accept applicants for both or either position. There will be an honorarium up to £1225 per year dependent on post and attendance. 

We are looking for: strong musical literacy, willingness to learn, confidence in leading a large choir.  In return we can offer: coaching from our experienced MD (Alex Kyle), performance experience and a friendly environment.
