London Youth Conservatoire is one of the largest and most successful non-selective music schools in London with over 370 students and 35 teachers. The School offers a comprehensive music education from beginner to Grade 8 and beyond with individual instrumental lessons; musicianship and theory classes; and several orchestras, ensembles, jazz groups and choirs. We welcome students aged 4 to 18 and adults.

Position:
London Youth Conservatoire is looking for a Choir leader, to work two hours on Saturdays during term time. Both choirs are children's choirs and last 55 minutes. Candidates with suitable training and demonstrated track record in teaching Kodály musicianship and/or ABRSM Theory may also be offered additional musicianship classes (the School uses the NYCOS 'Go for Bronze/Silver/Gold' curriculum as well as the ABRSM Theory syllabus).

Requirements:

• A relevant music degree, ideally gained at a music conservatoire (or similar)
• A passion for pedagogy, with an ability to inspire the students
• Experience of running children's choirs to a high standard
• Energetic, punctual, organised, and able to work as part of a team
• Excellent oral communication skills
• Experience in the Kodály approach, or willingness to learn in order to incorporate some elements in your teaching
• Keyboard skills highly desirable
• Relevant safeguarding training

Days:
Saturdays, 9-11am (choirs only), during term time only, until 7th July 2025.
Term dates available on our website (34 weeks for the school year 2024-2025).

Employment type:
Self-employed position (service contract, renewable).
