Musical Director: de Merc Chamber Choir
The de Merc Chamber Choir, Harlow's leading small vocal ensemble, is seeking a new and enthusiastic Musical Director.
We are a compact, versatile mixed adult amateur choir specialising in a cappella repertoire ranging from the 16th century through to contemporary works. Currently consisting of nineteen singers, the choir gives listeners the opportunity of enjoying the intricacy and intimacy of unaccompanied singing that is the essence of smaller ensembles.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings (approximating to academic term lengths) between 19:30 - 21:30 at St Mary-at-Latton Church Hall, The Gowers, First Avenue, Harlow, CM20 2JP.
Applicants should email a covering letter and CV to the choir's Chairman, Julian Roques, at julianroq@gmail.com outlining why they are interested in the post and detailing relevant experience. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to take a full two-hour evening rehearsal as an audition during late-November/ early-December 2024. Please therefore mention in your application any dates in November/ December when you would not be available to take an audition rehearsal. The closing date for applications is November 5th 2024.
It is envisaged that the new Musical Director will start in January 2024, but a later start date can be agreed with the successful candidate if required.
Full details are available on our website demerc.org.uk or from the Chairman, Julian Roques, at julianroq@gmail.com.
