Organist and Choir Leader: St Andrew's church, Alfriston

Known as the "Cathedral of the Downs", St Andrew's Alfriston is seeking to appoint an Organist/Choir Leader to direct the choir and provide music to enhance the liturgy and worship at St Andrew's and on occasion, other churches within the Benefice. This post will support the continued development of an established choral tradition, with an enthusiastic and supportive choir.

Duties to include Sunday morning services (47 weeks allowing five weeks for holiday) and choir practices on Friday each week. This may be negotiable. Also to play for services in Holy week, Easter, Christmas and some feast days.

The postholder will be supported by assistant organists who can play to cover annual leave, and for choral evensong and festival services, allowing the potholder to conduct the choir.

Set in the midst of the beautiful Cuckmere valley, St Andrew's Alfriston is a popular venue for weddings (for which there is an additional fee)

The church has the benefit of a 3-manual Makin organ and a 5'6" Venables grand piano.

This is a paid position and full details may be obtained from The Rector, Revd Prebendary Stephen Stuckes rector@cuckmerechurches.org.uk
