Music Director: Hart Male Voice Choir
A passionate and skilled Music Director is sought for our choir based in Odiham, Hampshire.
This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a vibrant and dedicated male voice choir, contribute to the cultural fabric of the community and inspire singers to reach their full potential. The Music Director will play a crucial role in shaping the artistic vision of the choir and ensuring its success for years to come. We are an auditioned TTBB choir of about 50 members and celebrate our 50th anniversary this year. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. We are supported by a professional accompanist but an ability to provide accompaniment on occasion will be required in the absence of our current accompanist. We aim to perform a concert each month to raise funds for local and national charities.
The requirements of the role are:
- Proven experience in conducting choirs, particularly male voice choirs, and a strong understanding of choral techniques is preferred
- Excellent musicianship, including proficiency in piano, and a solid foundation in music theory
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate choir members. Experience of the use of social media to promote the choir is preferred
- Knowledge and experience of planning concert repertoire, and in conjunction with the committee, to provide the variety and challenge which will enthuse choir members and audiences.
Remuneration: Payment is per rehearsal with an additional fee for each performance. Rates of pay are negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
