The Burford Singers (Oxon) are seeking a new Music Director effective September 2027 to take over from Will Dawes.

We are a choir of 80-90 members that perform three concerts per year and engage our own professional orchestra for each concert, if finances permit.

Our core repertoire encompasses the standard choral classics by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Benjamin Britten.  We have also performed more recently composed pieces, for instance George Martin’s Mission Chorales and Bob Chilcott’s Dances of Time.

Under the inspirational leadership of Will Dawes, we have included works by some of the less well known female composers from the last three centuries including Marianne Martinez and Fanny Hensel.

Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings in term-time in The Warwick Hall, Burford, Oxon OX18 4RY between 19:30 and 21:30.

We are looking to recruit an inspiring, enthusiastic and knowledgeable Music Director, with choir training and experience as an orchestral conductor. Ideally the appointment would begin in September 2027.

Please email r.chute@burfordsingers.org.uk for job description and application form.

Application deadline: Monday 7th December 2026
